Forest EcoCentre
Scottsdale's new tourism icon, the Forest EcoCentre, opened on Friday 8th February 2002 in front of a large crowd. The EcoCentre is a focus for forest-based tourism and recreation activities in the North-East and acts to inspire visitors to explore and enjoy the diverse forest types of the region. |

The distinctive shape of the Forest EcoCentre creates an environment designed for maximum energy efficiency. One of the most exciting features of the attraction is the greenhouse-style interpretive centre on the ground floor, featuring species from the major forest communities of North-East Tasmania. The forests of north-eastern Tasmanai are presented in a circular walk through that runs clockwise from the entrance. It is a story of the forests, the pioneers, early settlers and Chinese tin miners, the plants and animals, ecological curiosities, the plantations and the challenges in growing and using wood better. |
