Brook Eden Vineyard
| The history of the vineyard begins when the farm was bought in 1987 by John and Sheila Bezemer. Sixty hectares of farming property in the North East of Tasmania between Lebrina and Pipers Brook. It is presently still run as a beef producing farm to Angus Cattle. |

| It is ideally situated for viticulture at latitude 41 degrees 09’south, with sufficient rainfall in most years and average temperature and heat summation. The vineyard is sited on the remains of volcanic slopes and bounded by two rivulets of the Pipers Brook River, hence the vineyard’s name Brook Eden – with a commanding view of the Pipers Brook valley, dotted with farms, vineyards and state forest. |

| First plantings commenced in 1988, mainly Pinot Noir, Chardonnay in 1989, with some Rieslings and Cabernet Sauvignon in 1990 on a trial basis. Further Riesling plantings were undertaken in 2001. A series of lagoons situated at the foot of the vineyard enhances aesthetics and assists in minimising early frosts during springtime fruitset. This is achieved by elevating air temperature over the vineyard by natural air current convection. According to the old adage – “A vineyard in the site of water will always do well”. Sadly, John died in October 2000. In order to maintain and enhance Brook Eden’s reputation Sheila has chosen to have the Estate grown grapes processed by award winning local wine-makers. Visitors are welcome to taste and purchase boutique style wines of outstanding quality. Free tastings and sales of Ashgrove Farm cheese also available with farm fresh and dried produce available in season. Open 10.00am to 5.00pm. Closed Good Friday and Christmas Day. |
