Dalrymple Vineyards

Dalrymple Vineyards first planted in 1987 by Dr. Vertel Sundstrup and Anne Sundstrup, Dalrymple faces north-east for maximum sunlight hours, with the sloping vineyards thriving in rich basaltic soils.

Approximately 10 hectares of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir vines yield around 70 tonnes (currently) with harvest increasing as new vineyards mature. From the beginning, Dalrymple Vineyards has attracted considerable attention from wine judges. Each of the three varietals has received Trophies and/or Gold Medals from mainland and Tasmanian wine shows.

In 1798, Matthew Flinders sailed into the estuary of the Tamar River, naming the area in honour of Alexander Dalrymple, the Admiralty hydrographer whose foresight led to the voyage of Captain James Cook. A Dalrymple crest is featured on the wine labels. Overlooking the vineyeards and Bass Strait, the spacious cellar door facility is open daily from 10am to 5pm. Visitors are welcome to wander through the vineyard to inspect the vines. A prompt mail order service is available.
